One Year Down

These last couple of days marks the year anniversary of moving out to the farm. I remember thinking when we first moved in that it was only temporary and by the summer we would be moved again. Well, we are still out there and during the last few months have officially bought the farm from Tyson's Gpa Bob. We were super excited when this opportunity came up and Tyson's employer approved for him to stay out there since it was not within the milage originally set. As we talked about this, we knew there was going to be some updating we wanted to do since it is an older farm home. The majority of the work Tyson has been doing outside around the farm. He started by cleaning out the barn so he could use it as storage or to have a work area. Right now it's as clean as it could get and very organized. Then he took down some trees that were dieing and that was a weekend job for sure. He also took down two steel corncrib cages, which really opened up the view of the backyard. There are a few other building and projects he would like to get done, however, will take some time, but he's got a good start.

Inside the house, we have ordered new front doors and have the entry way gutted so we can begin to remodel that area. If you are familiar with the house, the doors that are on now, are double and we decided to keep it that way, and ordered steel dbl doors. As you walk into those doors, there is a good amout of space and three stairs up into the main living room. In that entry way we would like to put in a coat closet, possibly a built in bench with cubbies, new walls, and tile flooring. I'll be super excited just to be able to use the front door again, as the one that's there now is not in working condition :) From there we will move onto the next project.  The doors should be in this week, so hopefully our carpenter can get started soon!
